Hello Love,
Today's post is going to be a personal
one. For those of you who have been with me from day one, thank you.
Y'all know how important this blog is to me. It's my baby. It's the
story that finally clicked after years of having writer's block. It
started off as an experiment and ended up as a passion. I learned so
much these last couple of years. And more importantly, I've made some
amazing friends along the way.
With that being said, it's saddens
me to come to the conclusion of wrapping up New York Dixie.
Within the last couple of months
there's been some, very random, spew of negativity and I just want to
make it clear that this decision has absolutely nothing to do with
that. This isn't personal. It's more of a professional decision.
Trust me, I was planning on holding onto this blog for as long as I
could, but as of recent I've come across some opportunities that will
be consuming more of my time and I don't want to be unfair to my
readers.
I've decided to take this opportunity
because y'all have encouraged me to spread my wings. That was the
very purpose of this blog. To learn. The loyal readers know that I've
been very timid to dip my toe in the writing field. It's always scary
to discover something you're unfamiliar with, but because y'all have
supported me, and reassured me, I have the confidence I need to move
on. It's so heart-warming to feel your love from all across the
world. I would've never phantom that this would one day be a reality
for me.
Please know that this is not the
end.
In regards to New
York Dixie, starting next week, I will start wrapping up the story
with a conclusion by/before the end of the month.
In regards to my
writing career, I'm working hard on creating a new series. The
details are still confidential, but I will be able to share more
within the month. Aside from the series, I'm still working hard on my
book and a screenplay. This is definitely not the end my love!
In honor of New
York Dixie, I would love for you all to share some of your love. Tell
me about a favorite moment from the last couple of years, something
that got you thinking, a personal connection you may have had with
the blog or characters, where you'd like to see the story end, how
you envision life for Jonah and Lynn or the rest of the gang. Share
anything!
It would warm my
heart tremendously if everyone participated. I know I always call out
the ghost readers and a lot of you still continue to be ghost
readers, but it would mean the world if we could all have this one
last writer-reader connection with NYD.
Xx,
Zara Kennedy
Hello Zara,
ReplyDeleteThis is what I told adrianna from life greatest journey as well, I love your story. Thank you so much for it. I have always been a ghost reader, on all the blogs. But this one as well is one of my favourite blogs. I hope your new opportunities make you the happiest girl. Thank you for all your stories and I hope Lynn and Jonah are going to have the best wedding ever.
Leo
Hi Leo,
DeleteThank you so much for following Jonah, Lynn, and I on this journey! I couldn't have had the confidence to move forward with my career if it weren't for loyal readers like you! And please stay tuned, you might just like what I have yet to come ;)
Well this week is getting worse this is the second blog to announce its shutting down :(. But it makes sense the you have to move on with your real life. I have been a ghost reading for a long time and don't think I have commented once.
ReplyDeleteI have to say the whole Jonah and Lynn romance really opened my eyes and made me wishful that there is a Jonah out there for all of us. after 2 horribly failed long term relationships this blog made really realize that I need to search for my own Jonah - family orientated, funny, isn't always serious and is romantic in a quirky way not the over the top lovey way.
I would love to see this blog end with them having it all, Lynn a doctor, Jonah a big time TV star and the happy family. i mean we don't all get exactly what we want in life but since its a fiction blog they can have the perfect life we all dream of.
Congrats and good luck on your new adventures and thank you for taking the time to write such a great blog!!!
I agree wholeheartedly with this entire statement from the first sentence to the last!!
DeleteDitto, my EXACT sentiments.
DeleteOnly difference my fiancé is a "Jonah".
Roberta,
DeleteOh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! Which other blog is shutting down?
I'm so glad my story had such a positive impact on you. It really warms my heart to know that I could bring such happiness into your life. Trust me, there is definitely a guy, dare I say, even more perfect than Jonah out there for you. After all Jonah is based off of a real person, if that boosts your hopes any :P
Thank you so much for being a loyal reader! Much love!
I agree with Roberta Barr. I enjoyed this blog because even though there was drama, the characters did get to find good relationships. Maybe not without bumps, but it was good read about loving relationships and fun personalities. It was not high maintenance. So good luck in the future and I too will miss Lynn and Jonah. Actually, I will miss Jonah more! LOL!
ReplyDeletePlease don't delete the blog after you've stopped writing! I love looking back at my favorite posts!
ReplyDeleteSo sad you're shutting down nyd!! :(
Poppy,
DeleteI'm not planning on deleting the blog. I was hoping to put it into book form so it would be easier those who wanted to read the story from beginning to end. I'll keep you updated on the details!
I loved reading this blog, and it really transformed over time. I've commented sometimes, and I know it hasn't always been positive, but that was never a critique of your writing ability!
ReplyDeleteHey L,
DeleteThank you for being on this journey with me! I'm glad you were able to call out things you may not have liked. It was readers like you who helped me develop a more "likeable" story!
I, like many others, am also a ghost reader. I've never commented on my appreciation on your style of writing. One thing I truly admire is how relatable you made some of the characters. Good luck on everything, I really hope to see your work in the near future, and PLEASE keep us updated with your writing career! (I'd love to see the blog end with a huge, dramatic, and hilarious bang)
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
-M ❤️
Michelle,
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words! I believe I have the best family in the blogosphere and I honestly don't see myself moving on without y'all! I will most definitely keep my blog updated with details on future projects! :)
I am heartbroken, this has been my favorite blog for a long, long time. But with that being said, all good things must come to an end. I wish you all the best in the future and can't wait to see how the story wraps up.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for supporting my crazy obsession! :) I don't have a specific end date in mind but I promise you'll love the "finale"!
DeleteOh wow. I've read from the beginning and cried and rejoiced through the story. I loved it when Connor showed up in Texas... I'm a hopeless romantic. I love her and Jonah together, I remember the scene where they first met on the street... she has grown so much over the course of the blog and so has your writing.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite blogs are ending which makes me so sad. You should feel proud that you have evoked such an emotion with your writing that I'm sad over a fictitious story ending.
Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!!
Erin
Those were some of my favorite posts to write! :le sigh: I'm such a hopeless romantic myself! Thank you so much for reading long and being a part of this journey! I know it's sad when things end, but here's to hoping something even better begins! :)
DeleteI'm really sad to see this blog ending but I'm really excited to see what you put out next! I actually really liked when Lynn talked with her ex.It was good to see then both get closure and for Lynn to think about where she's come.
ReplyDeleteLove your writing and I'm sad to be saying good bye to Lynn and Jonah!
Rachel,
DeleteThank you for being such a loyal reader! I'm sad to say goodbye as well, but I hope you'll enjoy what I have coming next! Who knows maybe I might throw in an update post on Lynn and Jonah here and there :P
Oh no! I am so sad to see this blog end!! I will really miss it but thank you for letting us know and giving it an ending instead of disappearing! I would love to see an epilogue that fast forwards a few years so that we can see how everyone (including Connor) ended up! I will really miss reading the story! You have done an awesome job with it!
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part was the whole Jonah and Lynn relationship. I loved the whimsy of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is news is so incredibly sad! I have been around since the beginning and look forward to reading this blog on a regular basis.I have enjoyed watching your writing and the Lynn's story unfold.
ReplyDeleteI understand life happens and can significantly in a few years. I wish you all of the luck in your future en devours.
-Alberta Canadian
:( I also hope they can have it all. Would love to hear more about their life after marriage and baby and less about getting up to that point.
ReplyDeleteI have followed this blog since the very beginning and my favorite moments were when Jonah and Lynn met as well as when Lynn spilled her coffee all over herself in front of Jonah. I have loved this blog so much! Thank you for taking the time to write it.
ReplyDeleteSheena
I really enjoyed when they went back to Texas an we saw more into their characters. And when Lynn's hot doctor ex boyfriend was her teacher of sorts.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see this blog go. I have been a ghost reader and have been with this blog since the beginning. I can't pin point a favourite moment but what I can say is that this blog has made me laugh, cry, laugh out loud and go all girly over Lynn and Jonah's relationship. Watching their relationship develop and grow has been a pleasure and I am grateful to have been a part of it. I wish you all the best in your future adventures.
ReplyDeleteI've followed you since day one of NYD and I've always wondered how you managed to keep this story going for all this time and keep it interesting. Just like I go through with drawl when I read an amazing book and feel connected to the characters, I know I'll feel the same sadness when this story ends. Thanks for your dedication over the years and I can't wait to see what's next for you!
ReplyDeleteI am so sad to hear this news. All my blogs are leaving me. I know you have bigger, better things to come and I can't wait to see what comes next. I will miss your writing. Hope a book comes soon. Thank you for entertaining me with your writing all these years.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am one of the weekly ghost readers. First comment ever! Please say it isn't so and this is simply a late April Fool's joke, please! Lynn, Jonah and the rest of the gang, will surely be missed. Where will I go now for my weekly fix? Good luck on all your future endeavors. :)
ReplyDeleteAww this sucks but totally understandable it's time to move on.
ReplyDeleteHonestly the part I remember the most about this blog is when they went to that old fair place and the song by Bastille was playing? Or they thought it was lol sorry it was a long time ago but I could see it so perfectly!
I hope they get the best wedding ever and the most perfect baby ever. I will miss them and your beautifully written words.
Take care and keep doing you because you are so talented!!
I found your blog a month ago and have binge read every post since that day, I am so sad to see you go, just know that your writing has inspired me to pick up my pencil again a time or two! Thank you! You are an excellent writer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your posts! I've been reading since the beginning and your posts have always been something to look forward to in the week. I can't wait to read the ending and see what you have in store for the future. Good luck and please keep us in the loop of your upcoming projects!
ReplyDeleteBummer that the blog is ending. I have been reading since very close to the begining. Never posted before this. Not sure what I am going to read after you finish. Thanks for the story.
ReplyDeleteSarah
I'm so sad you've decided to end this and I understand that life comes first but I'm glad you are wrapping it up and just not disappearing on us like other writers do. I can't wait to see how you wrap up the story between Lynn and Jonah.

Arrrgghhh I'm throwing a temper tantrum and stomping my feet on the ground right now. As you know I've been here since day one. With you and arianna from LGJ... I have loved your blog since the beginning I have had emotional ups and downs with the stories. You have invoked many tears and numerous belly aching laughs through that time and I will truly miss reasing your words every week. I will stalk your writing career like I tried to do with k from the bedroom blog from so many years ago lol so you better hold up to your end of the bargain. I have your email so you'll hear from me on occasion. Thank you for sharing your stories with us and I know you will give Lynn lee and jonah the ending they deserve. I wish you all of the best.
ReplyDeleteKate
So there isn't a story line post this week? :( We will miss you!!! I'm sure you will be very happy with where your life takes you after this
ReplyDeleteAww ! I'm a little sad its almost over !! I've loved Lynn and Jonah :) Their playfulness and joking around is so, so great. I'd have to say that my favorite parts of them were in the beginning, like when she ran into him while sweaty and gross and he was just so enchanted. Le sigh :) Can't wait to see how you conclude it !
ReplyDeleteI've read this blog since the beginning; so sad to see it end. I wish you the best in your future endeavors. Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteBittersweet. Ghost reader, but I just want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to travel to New York. I am from South Africa and love reading about how people "do things" elsewhere. You being a Southern girl made it that much better.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new adventures. Please keep us updated.
~Michelle~
Hello everyone i just want to share a testimony on how Dr idahosa of (dridahosasolutioncenter@gmail.com.com) was able to bring my love partner back to me after 3months of divorcing me for another woman, my partner was very faithful and nice to me, not until he finally met with another woman who was enticing him with some fake love, and had enchantment on my partner, after some time we started having quarrels for little cases, and at the first time he threatened me that he was going to leave me for another woman, to me i never believed it not until it happened, after my partner ordered for a divorce note for me i became so curious and desperate to have him back at all cost, i tried all mean i could but all fell apart for me, but few time back i went in search on the internet on how to get Ex Back, it was there i saw many testimonies of how Dr idahosa has helped people with relationship problem, immediately i message Dr idahosa and i told him everything concerning my relationship he told me not to worry and gave me instructions on what he is to do to bring my partner back to me and all he wanted was for me to have faith in him, really i tried to believe him as he was my last hope, so after everything done by Dr idahosa my partner returned to me begging me for mercies, i can just tell how it happened but i am so amaze by his work, friend out there if you need any help for your marriage or relationship you can kindly email Dr idahosa on, (dridahosasolutioncenter@gmail.com.com) or call him on +2348134261542...
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity you live in a make believe world and I'm so sorry you were conned out of money. If this is even real, do you not feel you deserve better than to be a man that would disrespect you like that. I believe people can make mistakes and a relationship can move past that, but he should be fighting to be with you... not the other way around
DeleteOh unbreak my heart!!!!!!!! I marked my week by this blog since it kicked off.... I laughed n cried with the characters. But am happy that you have found your footing and hope that your book will find its way to East Africa! Go girl.
ReplyDeleteBut then why were you denying it so hard when people were saying they could see the blog was coming to an end? I'm not angry, but you made us think those were just haters and you were going to continue with the blog but obviously those people were right after all. But to leave on a good note, I always enjoyed this blog and I do hope to hear more from you because I do think you're a good writer. Good luck with everything , I sure will miss my weekly stops here
ReplyDeleteShe might not have been lying, it is possible she wasn't trying to make it come to an end when those comments were made.
DeleteI will miss this blog have read since the beginning, I will say though that sometimes it drives me nuts that blogs don't have an ending or if they do I have no clue when, and then I'm always anxious like what drama are they going to through in to keep it going. I've always been used to books where you know there's an ending. As much as I love fictional blogs I am happy you are giving us an ending. Also glad to hear we may have future reading material
Anon,
DeleteAs I mentioned in the above post, this decision was a "sudden" decision. At the time when I wrote that I had zero intentions of ending the blog, I can 100% confirm that I had zero intentions to ending the blog. The "haters" only said that because they were growing tired of reading the story. I on the other hand was not tired of writing the story, nor am I now. I would absolutely love to continue on writing New York Dixie, but unfortunately, a new opportunity has presented itself and I would be a fool not to take it. And sadly, that means I wouldn't have enough time to give NYD some love.I hope that better explains why I'm choosing to move on.
To both Anons, thank you both for letting my story be your weekly fix. I hope you two will be able to stick around for the end of the story and onwards with my new projects! Loads of love!
Thank you from Canada!! You provided me much needed entertainment during my maternity leave!!
ReplyDeleteI called it on the post when she announced the main character was pregnant.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the blog go, had a feeling it was coming for a while. Would love to know if they end up having a boy or a girl and what they decide to name him/her. A post about then a few years from now would be good too. So we can see how they're doing.
ReplyDeleteHaving a really hard time picking a favorite part..
oh wow. I too am a ghost reader and this is my first time to comment. I have LOVED this story from the beginning. I hated reading that you were giving the blog up... although it's said that all great things must come to an end! The chemistry between Lynn and Jonah was awesome. You are a great writer and I'm sure whatever you have stored in your future will be a success.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the time and effort you put in this to keep us entertained for a few minutes each week. I will miss it!
Does anyone know of any similar blogs? It's not over but I'm having some serious early withdrawals! :(
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the first time she met Jonah!!!!! πππππ Goodluck with everything!!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the first time she met Jonah!!!!! πππππ Goodluck with everything!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has all been wonderful. I remember voting/ nominating you for for "best new blog". You have done amazing things with the story and I have never felt cheated in any way. Thank you for sticking true to the characters. It's ironic that you are ending it now because I myself begin college in 2 weeks and it will be somewhat of a new beginning for both of us.
ReplyDeleteI think my absolute favorite moment was Lynn running into Jonah outside of his office. They were so meant to be!!
Thank you and good luck. I will certainly try to follow your career because I'm sure you'll be successful.
-Marie Elizabeth
Thank you so much for everything that you've put into NYD. I've really enjoyed following Lynn and her crazy friends, and of course Jonah! One of my favourite posts was when it was written from Jonah's perspective, when they visited his mom's place and was thinking of his dad.
ReplyDeleteWishing you success and happiness in your future endeavors. -O
